Construction is underway for Florida Hospital DeLand’s first free-standing urgent-care facility in DeLand.
The new 5,200-square-foot facility, located at 2293 S. Woodland Blvd., will be a Florida Hospital Centra Care urgent-care facility and is expected to open in September. The facility is on an out-parcel near the new Publix grocery store in the Country Club Corners shopping center.
This facility will be the 32nd Florida Hospital Centra Care in Florida and the first in West Volusia.
“For nearly 35 years, Florida Hospital Centra Care has provided trusted, efficient urgent care to children and adults in Florida,” said Scott Brady, M.D., CEO of Florida Hospital Centra Care. “We are proud to be able to serve the DeLand community with the opening of our newest location this fall.”
Florida Hospital Centra Care is the area’s only hospital-affiliated urgent-care provider, and will serve as another access point for those who need medical care.
Urgent-care centers are outpatient clinics that treat most illnesses and injuries, but do not handle life-threatening conditions like chest pain, breathing difficulties, or severe bleeding. They usually are staffed by a combination of physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, typically 10-12 hours a day, seven days a week.
A free-standing ER is similar to a hospital ER, with one key difference – it is not attached to a hospital, and therefore cannot handle true emergencies that may require immediate surgery or cardiac procedures.
From coughs, colds, infections, allergies and flu, to broken bones and other orthopedic conditions, Florida Hospital Centra Care’s team of board-certified, adult- and pediatric-trained doctors will be available for families seven days a week.
Florida Hospital Centra Care offers on-site labs, and other immediate health care services such as X-rays, EKGs, stitches, physicals, blood-pressure testing, immunizations, and more.
Because time is valuable, Florida Hospital Centra Care offers an online, no-wait reservations system so patients can schedule to see a doctor when it’s convenient. Knowing that injuries and illnesses can happen at the most unexpected moments, walk-ins are always welcome as well.
Employers and employees can also take advantage of the wide variety of occupational medicine offered by Florida Hospital Centra Care, which includes pre-employment and workers’ compensation services, such as treating work injuries, giving employee physicals, and offering drug and alcohol testing for public and private employers of all sizes.
