Since opening nearly 15 years ago, Bill & Frank’s Brickhouse Grill restaurant hasn’t had a face-lift. Now it has undergone a “basically complete cosmetic remodeling,” according to Frank Jennings, who owns, with his twin brother, Bill, the eatery at 142 N. Woodland Blvd. in Downtown DeLand.

Brickhouse Grill closed for remodeling July 3 and unveiled its more modern look July 12.

Frank Jennings said the renovations included resurfacing the floors in the restaurant and bar, upgrading the bathrooms, installing new tables and booths, getting new patio furniture, adding a hot bar to the salad bar, freshly painting the walls, putting up new wall décor, and installing new lighting throughout.

“We put about $70,000 into it,” he said. “We put in 16-hour days, but we accomplished a lot.”

A virtually new restaurant required a new menu, so that got revamped, as well.

“It is more of a foodie-type of menu, with more paninis, specialty salads, burgers and pasta dishes,” Frank said. “The entire menu is new except for our pulled-pork, baby back ribs and brisket.”

Brickhouse Grill has long been known for its fresh seafood, charbroiled hand-cut steaks, prime rib, barbecue and more.

Some of the new menu options include pork nachos with cheddar-jack cheese, jalapeños and sour cream; three-meat chili with ground beef, sirloin tips and short-rib meat; a pork burger with cheddar cheese, Applewood bacon cracklings, hot baby spinach and chipotle ketchup; a grilled chicken breast with Pappardelle noodles, spinach, light tomato cream sauce, fresh mozzarella and cherry tomatoes; and a grilled-cheese sandwich featuring slow-cooked braised pulled pork, caramelized onion, smoked Gouda cheese, Applewood bacon jam, sourdough and provolone cheese.

“It’s literally a different restaurant with the extensive changes, but the same quality food,” Frank said. “People love the new look and the new menu. They really enjoy it.”

Brickhouse Grill also features a full-liquor bar, and offers live entertainments on Friday and Saturday nights. For more information, call 386-785-1237 or visit www.brickhousegrilldeland.com.

Brickhouse Grill is across the street from another restaurant the restaurateur brothers own. Byte Bistro is an upscale American contemporary-dining establishment that remained open while its sister restaurant was getting a face-lift.
