Sterling Court — Sterling Court in Deltona offers independent living and was recently named a “Caring Star” for 2017 by a senior-community website that provides information and support for family caregivers caring for aging parents, spouses and other loved ones.

Sterling Court, an independent-living senior community in Deltona, has garnered another award from a senior-care resource organization.

The latest kudos comes from Caring.com, a San Mateo, California-based website that provides information and support for family caregivers caring for aging parents, spouses and other loved ones.

Caring.com selected Sterling Court as a “Caring Star” for 2017 as part of an annual nationwide program honoring service excellence. The recognition was based on consumer ratings and reviews posted on Caring.com, a leading senior-care website, according to a news release.

Sterling Court, at 1001 Alabaster Way in Deltona, is one of 34 Holiday Retirement communities nationwide to receive the honor for 2017.

Sterling Court captured an average rating of 4.5 or higher (on a scale of 1 to 5) in at least 10 or more reviews from family, seniors and others considering senior-living options, including assisted living and Alzheimer’s care, while also meeting other top qualifying criteria for the honor, according to the release.

“We couldn’t be more proud of Sterling Court for earning this prestigious award and being recognized for its service excellence,” Lilly Donohue, CEO at Holiday Retirement, said in the release. “The ‘Caring Star’ award clearly demonstrates the community’s commitment to high-quality service and care.”

Tim Allard and his wife, Wendy, are on-site managers of Sterling Court. Tim Allard said the Caring.com award is Sterling Court being recognized by the facility’s residents, their families and vendors.

“The services we provide are top-notch, among the best of the best,” he said. “It means a lot to be recognized and appreciated for what we do for our residents.”

Only one other senior community in Volusia County was awarded the “Caring Star” designation, according to Caring.com: Countryside Lakes in Port Orange. In all, 34 independent- living communities in Florida were named “Caring Stars.”

Early this year, Sterling Court and The Cloisters of DeLand were among the few in Florida — and the only two in Volusia County — to make the list in SeniorAdvisor.com’s Best of 2016 Awards. Those awards also are exclusively based on consumer ratings and reviews.

More and more, families across the country turn to online reviews for insights and guidance on important senior-care decisions for aging or ailing loved ones, according to the Caring.com news release.

According to various studies from Caring.com, online consumer reviews are weighted heavily by the majority of family caregivers when researching senior-living communities. The Caring Stars awards program helps families narrow senior-living options for their loved ones to the retirement communities most acclaimed by families like theirs, according to the release.

Holiday Retirement, headquartered in Lake Oswego, Oregon, has more than 300 retirement communities across the nation. For more information about Sterling Court, call 386-775-8004 or go to holidaytouch.com/our-communities/sterling-court.
